I am an attorney and owner of Lauren C. Jones Law. I decided that I wanted to be a lawyer when I lost my first mock trial at the age of 12 during a school field trip to my County Courthouse. Something about standing in front of my peers, participating in a mock trial, reading a prepared script, and defending my best friend ignited a spark for the world of law. As a teen, I spent years testing the waters of other career options, looking for something that created that same spark of excitement and fulfillment. However, I always circled back to law as my chief passion. 17 Years later I became an attorney, and 7 years after that I now own my own law firm.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband Josh, our daughter Paige, and our household full of animals, Ben and Sophie (cats), and Winston (dog), live in Woodland, CA. Josh and I were high school sweethearts and have now been together over half of our lives. We moved from Southern California in early 2000s, graduated from UC Davis in 2006 and bought our home in Woodland in 2007. In 2015 we had Paige. She brings so much fun to our lives. We both really enjoy raising our family in Yolo County.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Being an attorney is challenging and rewarding all at the same time. You are ultimately a fixer, resolving people’s problems and making them feel at ease. My ultimate goal is to make the legal process less intimidating. The most rewarding moments are when clients walk away more educated, less anxious, and relieved that the legal process was as easy as it was.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Savoury, Tsuki Sushi, and Kick n Mule to name a few. However, there are so many more.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have worked in West Sacramento since 2017 and have really enjoyed building my business community here. This city is incredibly welcoming, and the business community is very supportive. I cherish the relationships I have fostered in West Sacramento.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I’d have to say Danny Luna. He knows everyone and has such a rich connection with West Sacramento. I heard about Danny long before I met him and have enjoyed working with him and getting to know him better. In all honesty though, I have met so many great people within our community, that it is hard to choose just one.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
France! My mom was born in France and has never been back. Before the pandemic we had plans to take a trip together to visit where she was born and travel the country.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
That is so difficult. I’ll go with the one I most recently watched, which is The Greatest Showman! I’m huge Hamilton fan also. I guess there is a musical pattern.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Keep going. Along those same lines, do not just talk about something, act. Life is difficult at times, especially as a business owner. When things get tough, you must pivot, and keep moving. Also, you have to act, not just talk about it.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Besides going to France, probably going to Disney World.
Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Michael Jackson hands down. He’s my all-time favorite artist and always lift my spirits.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
A lot has changed in this past year, but Whitey’s is a classic.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg would be amazing and inspiring. I’d probably take her to Kick n Mule and enjoy a cocktail and just talk for hours.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The welcoming feel the community has towards new comers is incredible.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Continuing with my law firm and growing, but still servicing this great community.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
The Real Housewife shows are my guilty pleasure.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
June Lake, CA is a home away from home for me. I’ve been going there almost every summer since I was a child. It is a stunning place.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
I love December and Christmas. I love getting into the holiday spirit and the magic of the holiday season.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Thrifty birthday cake ice cream.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My family.
